is a Los Angeles-based American artist who works with new media and video to explore ideas about architectural space, motion, and perception. Her recent survey exhibition was initiated by the San Jose Museum of Art, California, and traveled to the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art, Kansas City, Missouri, and the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, Buffalo, New York. She has exhibited extensively throughout the world, including exhibitions at the J. Paul Getty Museum, Los Angeles; the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (MassMoCA), North Adams; the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Washington D.C.; Le Printemps de Septembre, Toulouse, France; and the Art Gallery of Ontario, Canada. Her work has been included in Poetic Justice, the Eighth Istanbul Biennial; SITE Santa Fe's Fourth International Biennial, New Mexico; and the Venice Biennale, Italy. Japan; Western Bridge, Seattle; Los Angeles County Museum of Art; Denver Art Museum; Centro de Arte Contempor?neo de M?laga (CAC), Spain; Istanbul Modern; and Museo de Arte Contempor?neo de Castilla y Le?n (MUSAC), Leon, Spain. A monograph of her work by Joanne Northrup entitled Jennifer Steinkamp was published by Prestel Verlag in 2006.
